Abdominoplasty—Tummy Tuck
Abdominoplasty, more commonly known as tummy tuck, is a major surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. Abdominoplasty is recommended to patients who are bothered by fat or loose abdominal skin that won't respond to diet or exercise. The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, after multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond a point where it cannot return to its normal position anymore. Loss of skin elasticity in older and slightly obese patients can also be improved with abdominoplasty, as the procedure can dramatically improve the appearance of a protruding abdomen. It does however produce a permanent scar, which can extend from hip to hip. It can later, however, be corrected with a seperate surgery, but it will never disappear completely.
