Breast lift and breast reduction

Over the years, factors such as pregnancy, breast feeding and the force of gravity can change a woman's breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breast tissue is not supported properly and therefore breasts lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag. It can also happen if you lose a lot of weight, or genetically develop large breasts.

Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts.

During breast lift surgery, it is also possible to reduce the size of the areola, the area around the nipple, if necessary.

If your breasts are small or have lost volume—for example, after pregnancy—breast implants inserted in conjunction with a breast lift can increase both their firmness and their size. This complex surgery is a great way to give back your self-confidence after your pregnancy.

If your breasts are too large for your body, you may experience a variety of medical problems caused by the excessive weight, from back and neck pain and skin irritation to skeletal deformities and breathing problems. Unusually large breasts can also make a woman-or a teenage girl-feel extremely self-conscious.

Breast reduction, technically known as reduction mammaplasty, is designed for such women. The procedure removes fat, glandular tissue, and skin from the breasts, making them smaller, lighter, and firmer. It can also reduce the size of the areola as well. The aim of the surgery is to give you smaller, better-shaped breasts in proportion with the rest of your body.
